By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Today was a day of rest for us, as well as some time to see various parts of Louisiana. We took a driving tour down the south end of the Parish where we had the chance to speak to Chad, who is one of the locals that’s been here all his live. He explained how the storm affected the fishing industry and how the boats were just a tangled mess, and many are still are. The seas and surge picked up many boats and carried them up the land, just to drop anywhere along the path when the water reseeded 4 weeks later. As we drove along the road it was surreal to see the cars just inches above the water, in many spots it was hard to tell where the road was vs. the water, although that is the normal lay of the land in Venice. Chad mentioned that in some ways the storm “helped” the fishing industry by giving them more than a year to recoup and the harvest to regrow because they were not capable to fish the seas. I guess I can see that as some good.
After our morning tour we went back and attended church service. The service was…
not like one that I’ve attended before. The worship really touched my heart and brought me into the presence of the Lord. Although it was Palm Sunday the sermon was not like any other Palm Sunday service. The pastor spoke about renewal of ones self, and the Blood of Jesus, that was spilled for us. He challenged us to look at ourselves and ask if we needed our spirit revived, by raising our hand during prayer. I felt lead to raise my hand because if knew that I needed to ask God back into my life. I prayed that he refill my sunken soul with the Holy Spirit and to renew me. It was an overwhelming feeling, that our God love’s me as much as he does everyone who calls upon him. The pastor then asked the whole congregation to stand in a circle around the church and hold hands as he lead us in cooperate prayer. He prayed for the town, the church and the lives of us that know Jesus and the ones who don’t. I left the service feeling many things, but most of all I felt the love of Jesus around us, and his hand in the work that we are doing here in Buras, LA.
I have many more photos and stories to post about this day as we traveled to New Orleans and visited the 9th ward, Superdome, and the French Quarter. For now I’ll leave you with some photos, and video.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackMy wife found this site and we are overjoyed because our son Jim is one of the UNH students there. This gives us and his brothers and sisters a chance to see what is going on in a wonderful way we never expected! God is good! I think he is working in the chow line. If you run into Jim Browne from UNH tell him his dad loves him and is proud of him.
